Remember MM Class Switch

Posted: April 21, 2014 in Spring 14 MM

Hey Monday & Thursday!

Remember we’re having that guest speaker on Tuesday May 6th from 6:30-9:15pm. We have a room but I’m not overly thrilled about it. So, I will let you know the room if it changes, etc.

On a follow-up to that:

Monday’s May 5th 12:50-3:30pm class and Thursday May 8th 2:15pm-5:00pm class are canceled because we are all meeting on Tuesday May 6th.

You’ve all known about this for months so it will count as an attendance, etc.

Thank you.

Hello Monday!

Welcome back (ugh, I know) but hey, only a few more weeks left!

For Monday’s class:

Readings — Electronic News & PR chapter please.

Blog Posts: 2 of them both due by 12pm.

1. Your review/reaction to BlackFish, remember do NOT do a summary! I watched the film so no need for a summary.  500 words should do.

2. Instead of The Daily Show (which I love) I am going to ask you to read one of the articles/pieces below. You have an option between A or B.

Using your acquired knowledge, discuss the article(s), what are your reactions to it– do you understand it? How does it make you feel? Give me a why. 500 words.

MUST USE ARTICLES and DIRECTLY REFERENCE them.

a. http://www.publicintegrity.org/environment/breathless-and-burdened

This investigative piece just won the Pulitzer prize! Read 3 of the pieces (or more) to get an idea of what is happening and answer the above questions.

or

b. http://www.publicintegrity.org/business/finance/after-meltdown

This piece won the George Polk award for Journalism… so read 3 (or more) pieces to get an idea of what is happening and answer the above questions.

Remember, you’re only choosing ONE.

BONUS!!

A. If you read all of the pieces of one investigation and write 1500 words you will be given extra credit.

B. If you read both investigations and several articles included and write 1500 words total you’ll receive extra credit.

Thanks and see you in a week!

Best,

Professor Dunphy
